Artist's Description
view of the Sweetwater Strand in the Big Cypress National Preserve. A strand is a natural channel to drain the water from the surrounding higher flat land. Sweetwater Strand is of Loop Road half way between Miami and Naples on the Gulf of Mexico.

As a result, they did the next best thing and made it into a National preserve. This was a whole new concept and something not in existence before the Big Cypress dilemma. The preserve is administered and controlled by the National Park Service.
