Description
The most southern part of the Florida Everglades is home of the American Crocodile. As a matter of fact, it is the only place in the United States they call home. Like Alligators, American crocodiles can live in salt and fresh water. They have an organ on the top of their mouth that filters the salt out of the water. This organ just works a little better in Crocodiles than in Alligators and that is one of the reasons you have a better chance to see a crocodile in salt water than an alligator, but you could run into either one. Talking about Alligators, South Florida is the only place on earth where alligators and crocodiles peacefully coexist.
