Description
This image was done during breeding season and the little 10ft alligator came rushing from way back the second he saw me. No competition in my neighborhood! I did thank him though for hanging out for a while to keep an eye on me. The image would not have been the same without him!
This is Sweet Water Strand in the Big Cypress National Preserve. A strand is a natural channel in the landscape to drain the water from the surrounding higher flat land. Sweet water Strand is of Loop Road half way between Miami and Fort Meyers on the Gulf of Mexico.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
